Google Acquires Social Game, App Developer Slide

Report: Google Buys Social App Designer, Slide
There are rumors going around that Google is developing a social network site to compete with Facebook. On the 5th of August Google confirmed there newly acquired social technology company Slide. Google will pay around "$228 million for Slide". They have also "invested $150 million in Zynga."
Google is looking for a way to bring family and friends closer together with fun and interesting information just for them. Slide they build online communities that are creative. With the merging of the two companies it will help bring social networking to a new level.
Slide created games and applications for Facebook, Myspace, Friendster, and other networking sites like Top Fish, Super Pocus Academy of Magic, SuperPoke Pets are just to name a few. Slide has "27 million" users in over "200 countries" per month.
There was a tweet from a "very creditable source" the confirmed the existence of Google Me which is the soon to be new social networking site from Google. However, the tweet was deleted; but, co-founder of Facebook stated that "Google Me is not a rumor."
From the looks of both of these articles Google has also invested in Zynga which has popular games like FarmVille, FronteiVille, and YoVille. Zynga also makes these games and many more for popular social network sites like Facebook and Myspace.
